Students take STAR test

We had a terrific Tuesday, but he anticipation for Spring Break is definitely showing.

We started by practicing our skip-counting skills and following directions practice.

We took our STAR test today.  The goal of these is for each student to do his or her personal best.

In math we worked more with area.  We played a game using the buzzers, then applied what we learned about area to an assignment.

A great day of learing, but kids keep one eye on upcoming spring break

We had a great Monday, but I was reminded multiple times that we have spring break next Monday,

We had a great Morning Wake-Up today, and Mitchell and Bianca were recognized as being two of the Terrific Kids for December.

We did some comparing/contrasting in reading.  We used rules and laws.

We worked on our Poetry Ringo.

We did some place value practice, as well got on IXL Math today.  If they can get on that at home, it is a great practice for them.

Class works with sequencing in reading nonfiction passage

We had a fabulous Friday, but it was busy.  We finally got to see, and enjoy, the second grade program.

We started by finishing our multiples packet we started yesterday.

In reading we worked with sequencing.  We looked for clue words, such as next, finally, etc.  We also put things in order. We poured a lot of learning into today's nonfiction reading passage.

In math we added information about area to our notebooks.  We also figured the areas of several shapes.  Some were regular shapes, such as squares and rectangles.  But some were irregular. We went over strategies to figure the area on these, as we can't use the formula, L X W = A.

Have a great weekend!
