Third graders have busy day, including sketching their new flowerbed

We had a terrific Tuesday!

We started by either reading silently, or doing work that was missing.

Our reading story this week is All Aboard.  It is a biography, and your child brought it home for his or her reading assignment.  We also did word sorts.  We worked in pairs.  Each group was given the letters a, i, i, d, d, o, t, and n.   They were given a few minutes to come up with as many words as they could and write them down.  At the end of the allotted time, there challenge was to use all the letters to make a word.  See if you can figure it out, and ask your child if you are right.

Our spelling words for this week and next are why, life, find, my, pitch, eye, I, which, light, swim, drink, land, while, and try.  We said, spelled, said them today as a class.

In math we worked with number comparison, as well as reviewed place value.  It seems to be getting easier for most.

For science we sketched our flowerbed.  We are going to plant new seeds tomorrow, and when they are large enough we will add them to our flowerbed.

Book orders. T-shirt orders, and fund raisers are all due!
