A message from the superintendent, Dr. April Grace

Dear Shawnee Families,

Today, Nov. 18, Shawnee Public Schools has begun the temporary transition from face-to-face learning to distance learning. Your students’ teachers and principals have sent information to all of you about what distance learning will look like for your student, but I want to give you some more details about what our plans are in the upcoming days.

Our nutrition services staff will continue to provide meals to children during distance learning. This Thursday, Nov. 19, our bus drivers will deliver two days’ worth of meals along bus routes. These routes will continue the week after Thanksgiving on Monday, Nov. 30; Wednesday, Dec. 2; and Friday, Dec. 4. (Meals for only one day will be delivered on Dec. 4.) These meals are for any child 18 years of age or younger. The meal delivery routes and times are available at our SPS Distance Learning Plan link on the district homepage, www.shawnee.k12.ok.us. We have also added information to help parents log in to Seesaw or Canvas at the same link on our website. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please reach out to your student’s teacher or school site for assistance.

Our plan is to continue distance learning Nov. 18-20 and Nov. 30-Dec. 4, and to return to face-to-face instruction Dec. 7. It is always extremely important that you wear face coverings in public, keep social distance as much as possible, monitor temperature daily, wash your hands frequently, sanitize routinely, and stay home when you are not feeling well. Thank you for your understanding as we take precautions for the safety of our students and staff.
