Students learn about a new form of measurement -- capacity

We worked with another form of measurement today. We worked with capacity (cups and ounces). We also added a visual to our math notebooks that show capacity equivalents. (ex. 4 quarts equal 1 gallon) I also took this opportunity to ask if there were letters we could add to quart to make a new word. They came up with "er." Then I asked how many quarters were in a dollar. We then discussed how knowing words and parts of words help us understand new unfamiliar words. They have a page to go over with you tonight. We checked it together, because there were several who were struggling. We took our multiplication Glad Minutes. We have someone who is already on level K and a couple who are not far behind at level G. Please remind them to practice their flashcards we are making.

We finished the book on EPIC today. They took the test on EPIC, as well as on AR.

We also worked on vocabulary. I put three words on the board from our read aloud. Each had to choose one. They had to find the definition, use it in a correctly written sentence, find an antonym, find a synonym, and draw a picture.

We read more about our great state today, and used a map key to answer a few questions.

A permission slip came home about the Thunder Blue game that third and fourth grades will be attending. Please get that returned, along with the money as soon as possible.

Information about pictures came home, as well. This is the time where you can order a class picture. Proofs of a couple of choices of your child will also come home for you to order from. Picture day is Monday, February 27th.

Book orders are due this Friday.
