Third graders have a great day of learning in vocabulary, reading, spelling, math, and science

We had a wonderful Wednesday!  

We started with assignment completion or reading silently.

In reading we did a vocabulary practice activity.  We had to match the words to the sentences, and the sentences to the illustrations.

We also did art with our spelling words.  We traced a large animal shape.  Then we traced it with a marker.  Next, we turned the paper over.  We wrote our words around the perimeter of the shape.  

In math we worked on several different multiplication problems and showed multiple ways to answer them.  We did a review of using a number line and arrays, as well.

In science we wrote characteristics of a real car.

Your child has a reading assignment tonight.  It is the story, "Vote!"

Class enjoys field trip to Cowboy Museum

We had a great day at the Cowboy Museum.  We had a couple of compliments from people at the museum, so we added stickers to our compliment chart. They want to fill this so that they can be rewarded!

We did have time to do a multiplication monster when we returned.  Most finished.  If not, they may finish tomorrow.

We had a great day back from fall break.

We read a story called "Every Vote Counts."  That is our reading assignment tonight.  We also took our pre-test for the week.

We worked on a graph that had letters along the bottom and numbers written vertically.  They had to find a box such as F6 and color it or draw in it the way the directions said.  This is the first time we have done one of these.  

In math we continued with multiplication using Cuisenaire rods.  Ask your child about this activity.  They came up with great problems, and didn't realize what they were doing at first.  They got very good at it by the time we were done.

Our field trip is tomorrow.  I have talked to them about being on their best behavior.  We will get another field trip since I teach the Fossils to Fuel curriculum.  But if they don't behave on this one, we won't be going.  Thank you for your support!
