Third graders enjoy reading 'Time for Kids' magazine

We had another productive day in third grade.  We started with some silent reading, but it was a "Time for Kids" magazine.  I think they enjoyed reading about things they are interested in.

In reading we read  a new story and worked with sequencing.  We also worked with the complete subject of a sentence and compound subjects.

In math we did a short place value review before working with rounding to the nearest 100.

In science we read more about plants and their parts.  We also labeled each part on a diagram.

Our homework tonight is to read a short book about plants written by a friend of mine.

I forgot to send home the Kona Ice fliers today.  I am so sorry.  I will send them in their daily folders tomorrow.  They will be served during recess on Friday.  The small one is $2 and the large one is $3.  I will collect money Friday morning.  There will be no Spirit Sticks for sell that day.

Oh, and our new secret word is purple!
