Third graders study idioms

We had another great day today.  I am trying very hard to keep us busy, as it seems to help with the extra energy around Christmas time!

We designed a Christmas sweater for morning work!

In reading we read an Idiom poem.  Idioms are statements that aren't literal.. I know my mother used them all the time!  "You can't have your cake, and eat it too."  We discussed each one in the poem and what each meant.  They are enjoying our figurative language lessons.

We also continued working on our letters to Mrs. MacLachlan.  We will finish those tomorrow, and I will mail them.

In math we did an array review, got into IXL, and went over our money operations using the bar models.  This seemed to throw them a little.  We will definitely be revisiting these.  Any time I grade an assignment, and the first 4 or 5 are clearly confused, then I know I need to reteach/revisit.

We got to work a little on our Oklahoma research.  This will be finished tomorrow, as well.

We handed out speaking parts for our Morning Wake-Up next week.  Please make sure your child is here on time.  We will start at 7:30.
