Student read tall tale, study verbs to see how they can bring life to text

We had another successful day in class.  We started with another multiplication puzzle today.  They are getting good at these.

We read a tall tale about Pecos Bill today.  We also answered questions, as well as covered multiple reading skills with this.

We reviewed action verbs, and discussed verb phrases.  We had to replace verb phrases that didn't include an action verb, with action verbs that "showed" rather than "told." For example: Madison was sick. We replaced the underlined verb phrase with "sneezed."  That showed she was sick, not just told that she was.  We also did a quick review of verb tense.

In math we worked more with time to the minute.  We chose the correct time to write under each of the analog clocks. We also applied what we have learned so far, by looking at information on a window of a pretend business.  We had to answer questions by using prior knowledge and the information.

Then we used cards lettered from A to P and wrote the times on the given clocks that were on each card.  This got them up and out of their seats.
