Third graders study fact vs. opinion

We had another good day in third grade!

We started by finishing our handwriting practice page.

We read two chapters in our new book, The Chalk Box Kid. We also summarized those two chapters.  Tonight they need to read chapter 3, and summarize it in 2 or 3 sentences onto the index card provided.  If they lost the card, they may write on a piece of paper.

We read another short passage that dealt with Richard Nixon.  We used it to discuss fact and opinion.  We gave examples of each in a class discussion.  We did an activity in our reading notebooks.  (Notebooks we add to,not workbooks.)

We played Sparkle using our spelling words for this week.

In math we worked with patterns.  We noticed patterns in our multiplication activities when we write them.  (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.) But today we used shapes, colors, and/or pictures to show patterns and complete them.  We first used building blocks to create patterns.  The students took turns competing each pattern.

Have a great evening!
