Students work with commas, perimeter, energy, suffixes

It was another educational day in third grade!

We worked more with commas today. This time we used them to separate addresses. (Name, street, city, state) We also worked on our current writing project. Some have finished theirs.

We are having a spelling test this week. But since it is a short week, we will all have the same words and there will only be 10. I found 10 words that all third graders should know, and we went with them.

     because

     Friday

     circus

     third

     Monday

     newspaper

     half

     eyes

     food

     prize

We reviewed and practiced perimeter in math. We even had to draw a shape with a given perimeter. That is difficult.

We talked about energy and the two kinds (potential and kinetic). We also discussed how oil and natural gas is formed. We made a simulation of the layers of earth using three different types of bread. We sprinkled paprika on the slices to represent the dead plant and animal life that falls to the bottom on the layers.

We also worked with the suffix “ed.” We discussed how it usually means that something happened in the past.

Book orders are due this Thursday.

Have a great evening.
