Today was a great day. Six students from each class got to go on the Thunder bus and choose a book. Tickets had been earned for a couple of weeks. Then we drew six names.
We reviewed the different forms of numbers today. We also got some small motor skills practice, as we cut, matched, and glued like numbers together. They had to match the standard form (EX: 67,897) to the word and expanded forms, before gluing them onto a large piece of paper.
We went over our reading practice pages and discussed why answers were wrong or right. Many realized if they had just slowed down a bit, and reread, they wouldn't have missed the ones they did. Those came today, and it would be great if you could go over them with them.
We also did some peer reading.
We had a talk about late work. It is very difficult to accept late work, especially at the end of the last nine weeks. When grades are due, they are due. Since we will go into summer break, they need to get their work in. It is a great habit to get into. I can't cut them any slack at the end. As always, if they need extra time, they may take it home, but it must be returned the next school day.
