Poems, science predictions, multiplication practice and more fill the day for third graders

We had a great day back in class today.

We revisited multiplication today. We did a practice page with a riddle. The riddle could only be answered if the products were correct. We also had math practice on their devices.

We read a poem today and answered questions. But, we also talked about what makes a poem, a poem. We discussed how they don't always rhyme. That was a surprise to many. We discussed the stanzas (verses) and how there was a separation between each.

We were able to make our predictions about what will happen when we drop three drops of water onto each rock. I have them write their predictions in ink, because they will try to change them every time. I have told them how scientists learn more from what goes wrong, than right. And when we are doing science, we are scientists.

An egg-cellent activity came home with your child today. They need to find something (no food, please) that will fit in the egg he or she brought home today.   A paper came home, as well, with the directions. I modeled a couple of examples for them so they should know what is expected. I can't wait to read their clues. I told them the idea is to write such good clues, it is easy to guess. That means they did a good job.

Our pancake field trip is Wednesday, and our Science Museum trip is Thursday.

Have a great evening!
