Third graders work with nonfiction

Some didn't get on the blog over the weekend.  So I told the children I would give out another secret word on today's blog.  Our secret word for today is marshmallow.

We started with a short math and language review for morning work.

In reading we read a nonfiction passage, as well as the story in our book.  Reading nonfiction is very important, as that is the majority of what is read in real life.  We answered a few questions about the nonfiction piece.

We reviewed sentences/fragments and introduced types of sentences.

We worked with rounding in math today.  We used a 100 chart and colored the numbers that rounded to 10 a given color.  Then we did the same with 20 - 100.  We added this to our math notebooks. Our notebooks will be great references when we are reviewing or taking quizzes.

We wrote our spelling words in alphabetical order.  They came home with there spelling list for this week.

Have a great Monday evening.

  2. You are welcome. I am glad that parents can ask specifically about their child's day.
