Third graders work with telling time

We has another successful day in third grade!  We started with a sequencing practice.  They had to put the steps of making a peanut butter sandwich in order.

We listened to another story and discussed it.  We also did a word connection activity.  It listed names of babies and then they had to write the adult name.  Since kid and child were both listed, it confused them. So we learned that kid is a name for a baby goat. We used our dictionaries for this activity.

We also finished our "Snowball Sentences." They turned our great.  Tomorrow we will illustrate a picture that matches our sentence.

We worked more with time in math. Today we worked on using "past" and "to" when telling the time.  For example, if the time is 9:45, then we can also say it is 45 minutes past 9 or it is 15 minutes to 10.

In social studies we finished our newspaper.  We read great articles about the branches of Oklahoma government, Sequoyah, and Wilma Mankiller.  Then we made a word bank so that we could do our crossword.
