Your child's first week of third grade is officially in the
books. It went well.
We worked with addition and subtraction by using fact
families. We used dominoes to come up with an addition problem.
Then we wrote the members of the fact families for those numbers. For example,
if the domino had five pips on one side, and 3 on the other, our first problem
was 5+3=8. The rest of the members were 3+5-8, 8-5=3, and 8-3=5. We
also started our math notebooks.
We did some reading. I am listening to each child read
individually so that I may have an idea what I need to do to help each child do
his or her personal best in third grade. One thing that helps, no matter
where your child is in reading, is to read to them, and let them read to you.
The children drew pictures of me today. I can't wait to see
them all.
We worked on classroom and hall procedures, as well.
Have a great weekend!
