We had a great day today!  The indoor field day went very well.  A big thank you to our PTA and our volunteers!

We did bring home our math books we started.  I hope everyone has a great summer!

Read what third graders wrote today

We had such a great day today! It seems that while everyone is excited about summer vacation, many are realizing that they will not get to see their friends on a daily basis.  That has been a topic of discussion.

We made turtles, as you saw by the pictures below.  They were getting so creative.

We also started writing a number book.  Jerry Pallotta, an author friend of mine (Who Would Win? series, and many others), gave me some blank booklets.  So as a class we wrote a book today.  Here is what we came up with.

Zero cookies in our cookie jar.

One mad mama wondering where they are.

Two cookies went to the neighbor's house.

Three, sadly, fell on the floor.

Four were in my school lunch box.

Five were hidden in the big, glass fox.

Six, I think my brother ate.

Seven, I know I gave to Nate.

Eight were fed to the cardinals, red.

Nine were hiding in my bed.

Ten were found in my mom's purse.

Eleven were given to the hospital nurse.

Twelve were eaten by Casper, my dog.

Thirteen were found on a big, wet dog.

Fourteen were sent to Grandma in Maine.

Fifteen were sent to cousins in Spain.

Sixteen were given to my favorite teacher.

Seventeen went to my family's preacher.

Eighteen were eaten by my dad.

Nineteen crumbled. My, how sad!

Twenty were eaten at the barbeque.

Twenty-one were saved just for you.

Twenty-two burned while Mom was on the phone.

Twenty-three went missing when Sis was left alone.

In a bag in the fridge, I found twenty-four.

Twenty-five appeared at our front door!

We had a lot of fun coming up with that!

Turtle art!

Today was sno-cone day in third grade

Today was an absolute great day!  We had so much fun!

We walked to the sno-cone stand after lunch outside.  Then we came back and played outside.

We did get some multiplication practice in.

We also did some silent reading.

Notes came home for some students today. Some I messaged on Seesaw.

Third graders look at writing featuring opinions

We had a great day today. They seem to be flying by!

We started with Xtramath and then we did some three digit addition practice.

We were able to get a lot of work done on our poetry project.

We also read opinions about the rainforest from different people. We discussed each one's point of view.  We have one more person's opinion to read, then we will write our own.

We took our Glad Minutes.  they are moving right along for the most part.

Have a great evening!

Class makes real progress with multiplication game

We had a great day!  We started with Xtramath.com this morning.

We played "I Have, Who Has" and got down to under a minute!  This is a game where someone asks a fact.  For example, "Who has 6 X 4?" The person with 24 has a card that reads "I have 24. Who has 7 X 4?" And this goes on until we get back to the first card.  We also got onto Istation math.

We read silently today and got on Istation reading.

We observed our pineapple top.  There isn't much change, but one section did look a little greener.

We also planted some more flowers in a couple of flowerbeds on our side of the building.  They won't bloom until summer, but I told them whenever you drove by to be sure to look.

We read some poetry.  I love it when a child brings me a poem, and asks if he can read it to me!  Sometimes they are laughing so hard they can hardly read it.

A brief wrap-up of today's classroom day in third grade

We had a very busy day today.  We are trying to finish up projects that some of us have not.  We did a lot of work with Poetry Ringo today.

The year is winding down, but the learning is continuing

We had a great day!  We started with some multiplication practice.  We continued this into our math time, but added addition and subtraction practice, as well.

We started a book about Walt Disney today.  They brought it home and their reading assignment is chapter 3.

We read about wind today.  We answered a few questions that represented multiple skills with the wind theme.

I told the class today that we may postpone our sno-cone day until Friday, as Wednesday is supposed to be very cold.

We are winding down the year.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate you allowing me to work with your child.  I am going to miss each and everyone of them!

Class keeps improving multiplicarion skills

We had another great day.  They finished their mystery picture or got onto spellingtraining.com, first thing this morning.

We worked more with our multiplication chart and filling it in.  We also played "I Have, Who Has" with another set of facts. They are getting pretty quick with their answers.

We read a short passage about rainforests today, and answered some review questions with rainforest as the theme.

I sent home a math game with your child to complete tomorrow.  Also, there are two assignments on Seesaw.  As always, your child may get on Prodigy, Xtramath, spellingtraining, or Istation.

Have a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms!

10 days and counting: but lots of learning left

We had another great day today! If you didn't send your traced hand, please do so tomorrow!  Some didn't get to do the activity today because they didn't have their mother's hand.

We did some mystery picture practice using a grid system.

We also worked with multi-digit multiplication practice today.  They were doing very well for the most part!  They saw that knowing their facts better helped them do the next level.

We also worked with classifying given words today.  There were some tricky ones.  We did a word puzzle, as well as wrote a tall tale of our own.  I can't wait to read them.

We had a great day. I cannot believe there are only 10 more.  Many notes came home in Wednesday folders.  Please go through them carefully.

The end is near, and third graders continue work on multiplication, spelling, and comprehension

We were busy today! We were able to get a lot accomplished!

We started by working on spellingtraining.com.  The children are so glad to have something in the place of spellingcity.com. I am too!  Already I can tell how it has helped them.  Test scores are up again!

In math we worked in pairs and filled a larger multiplication table than last week.  Last week we just did through the sixes. Today we started on the whole table through the twelves. We were unable to finish so we will do that tomorrow.

We also got some paper and pencil practice with our spelling words today.

We took our mat ISIP today, as well.

We took our comprehension check up today.  They are getting better at these!

Your child brought home a green sheet of cardstock.  We are comparing hands in class as a project.  Moms, please trace your hand and send it back.  It doesn't matter which hand.  But we need it TOMORROW!  Thank you!

You are allowed to come to the book fair with your child today until 4 o'clock.

Have a great evening!

Eight so far make benchmark on ISIP test

We had a very busy day today! With it being a new month, we took our reading ISIP test.  I promised those that made benchmark lunch one day.  So far I am up to 8 children.  Hopefully there will be more tomorrow.  I felt a few didn't do his or her best so they will be retaking it.

We worked more with multiplication fluency.  We also played "I Have, Who Has" with facts, and were able to get our time to under 1 minute!  We were very excited!

We read about an inventor. We will be reading more about other inventors, as well this week.

We started our animal research project. We had to choose an animal from the rainforest.  We were able to get onto National Geographic for Kids. We will work more on this tomorrow!

Our book fair is open through Thursday.  Some sent money today.
